First Years vs Third Years.
- 1st years:
- Are never in bed past noon.
- 3rd years:
- Are never out of bed before noon.
- 1st years:
- Read the syllabus to find out what classes they can cut.
- 3rd years:
- Read the syllabus to find out what classes they need to attend.
- 1st years:
- Calls the lecturer "Doctor"
- 3rd years:
- Calls the lecturer "Bob"
- 1st years:
- Would walk ten miles to get to class.
- 3rd years:
- Drives to class if it's further than three blocks away.
- 1st years:
- Memorizes the course material to get a good grade.
- 3rd years:
- Memorizes the tutor's habits to get a good grade.
- 1st years:
- Knows a book-full of useless trivia about the university.
- 3rd years:
- Knows where the next class is. Maybe...
- 1st years:
- Shows up at a morning exam clean, perky, and fed.
- 3rd years:
- Shows up at a morning exam in tracky pants with a beanie on and a box of pop tarts in hand.
- 1st years:
- Have to ask where the computer labs are.
- 3rd years:
- Has 'own' personal workstation.
- 1st years:
- Use the campus buses to go everywhere.
- 3rd years:
- Use the campus buses to run block while crossing the street.
- 1st years:
- Lines up for an hour to buy his textbooks in the first week.
- 3rd year:
- Starts to think about buying textbooks in June... maybe.
- 1st years:
- Is proud of his A+ on Human Biology midterm
- 3rd year:
- Is proud of not _quite_failing his Complex Analysis midterm
- 1st years:
- Calls his girlfriend back home every other night
- 3rd year:
- Calls Domino's every other night
- 1st years:
- Conscienciously completes all homework, including optional questions
- 3rd year:
- Offers to 'tutor' conscientious freshies of opposite sex...
- 1st years:
- Goes on grocery shopping trip with Mom before moving onto campus
- 3rd year:
- Has a beer with Mom before moving onto campus
- 1st years:
- Is excited about the world of possibilities that awaits him,the unlimited vista of educational opportunities,
- the chance to expand one's horizons and really make a contribution to society
- 3rd year:
- Is excited about new dryers in laundry room
- 1st years:
- Takes meticulous four-color notes in class
- 3rd year:
- Occasionally stays awake for all of class
